How to be Parisian.

The Best of Beauty Books How to be Parisian
If you haven’t seen the cult blogger/instagrammer book ‘How to be Parisian’ around… Where have you been?  This beautiful, book comes in several covers and languages (depending on what country you are in) and offers insight into (as the cover suggests) – How to be Parisian.

“Take the time to listen and to get to know yourself. Take the time to change, to grow, to rest. Take the time to say yes, take the time to say no. Take the time to be quiet. Take the time to look after your body, to eat well. Take the time to ask yourself who you are and what you want.”
Anne Berest, How To Be Parisian: Wherever You Are (As shown above)

This book contains sporadically crass and outrageous statements that give real insight into that world renowned attitude and style of the Parisian woman.  I especially liked this overall fashion and style lesson of what not to wear. “NEVER wear three-inch heels – why live life halfway?  Logos. You are not a billboard.  Nylon, polyester, viscose and vinyl will make you sweaty, smelly and shiny… Sweatpants – no man should ever see you in those – except your gym teacher – and even then – leggings are tolerated…  Blingy jeans with embroidery and holes in them – they belong to Bollywood. or UGG boots. Enough said.”
Anne Berest, How To Be Parisian: Wherever You Are  The book even goes on to list staple items necessary for any woman’s wardrobe and how to wear them (as shown above).

This book despite being a beautiful addition to any coffee table (and a great excuse to sit down and drink a cup of tea) is a real treasure trove of life lessons.  Caroline de Maigret and the other authors leave you with thought provoking sentiments like “Enjoy the face you have today. It’s the one you’ll wish you have ten years from now” – words of wisdom if ever i heard them.

Overall this book makes a great addition to any book shelf, makes a great bed side table addition and hosts easy to read words of wisdom!

  1. Haha Im nice post. I prefer not to be a Parisian, they are really rude

Yes I also found Parisians to be on the rude side… There is just something so powerful in the attitude of a french – Parisian woman. Fierce yet feminine.
