The Violet Hour.

I recently read about the below recipe on the Lauren Conrad blog and thought I would give it a go.  Inspired by that moment in the bar (the shots of tequila that get the plot going) this smoky, lovely drink goes down a treat. The Violet Hour is tequila based with a touch of crème de viollete. It sounds odd—florals and tequila—but it’s a delicious combination. So make like Melanie Griffith and switch your puffy tennis shoes for heels, get out your aqua net, and cheers to fighting that glass ceiling!

  • 2 oz. white tequila
  • ½ oz. creme de violette
  • ½ oz. grand marnier
  • 3 dashes angostura
  • flamed orange twist

Over lots of ice, combine the tequila, crème de violette, grand marnier, and angostura in a large glass. Stir vigorously for about 15 seconds, then strain into a tumbler over a large ice cube. Take a small peel of orange, light a match and run it under and over the orange to release it’s oils, and place it in the glass. Enjoy!

HINT: I also made this using Gin instead of tequila which was amazing and for something a little less intense – lemonade or soda water are a great addition.
