Attention all Gin lovers (and those who love a highly Instagram-able location! The Four Pillars Gin Distillery should be added to your Epicurean bucket list! Located around 50minutes to an hour from Melbourne’s CBD, this Healesville based distillery specialises in all things gin and sure is mightily photogenic!
Tables are adorned with elements that are used in the distilling process, staff are pleasantly dressed in rather hipster, leather detailed aprons, and the high ceilings give a feeling of being in an up market, converted farm house.
Sailor styled windows also give guests a look into the distillery from the bar area and indoor plants add a pop of colour to the modern, Scandinavian decor.
While I was there I tried both the classic gin and tonic as well as the gin tasting plate (both shown in images below). I had the gin and tonic with a orange rind and enjoyed the gin trio which consisted of three varieties – pomegranate, ginger and lime and orange. We were given bottles of tonic water and soda water so we could mix and match our drinks to our liking.
This distillery not only makes gin and has an open bar but it sells bottles of its clear liquid gold on the spot! There are several varieties available including a bizarre looking bottle of Shiraz gin which I was not game to try!
